Nuje is a long time veteran of the Houston scene. In 2002, after years of trying to form a groove-oriented band, he finally found Ian on JazzHouston.com and started Drop Trio, leaving the successful rock band Southern Backtones to do it.

Nuje plays Sonor drums and a wide assortment of Zildjian cymbals. He also plays Roland V-Drums when the need arises, and an assortment of hand percussion instruments. And he likes to sing Indigo Girls songs.

When not on the road, Nuje teaches private drum lessons to over 50 students in his hometown, The Woodlands, where he lives with his wife, Debbie, and kids, Teacherman and Afu.
